Today is the Ninth Annual "Rockman Day"

Another year, another Rockman day. It's the ninth one, in fact! If you don't know what that means, read up on this post here. But long story short, "roku" is 6 and "ku/kyuu" is 9 and together they form "rokku". This trend of making numbers into words is why the number 69 is often associated with Rockman (the Support Car's plate, for example). Funnily enough, today is also the day the events of Rockman 2 happens.

As per tradition, fans from both sides of the pacific are whipping up fan-art. The piece above comes to us from One-Punch Man illustrator and Dust Man and Crystal creator, Yusuke Murata. 1. Not what I expected for 69 Day, but I'll take it.

  2. That Murata take is REALLY cool. Why can't the TV show look like that =/

    1. Oh that's easy. If it looked more like Murata's work, then it's anime. Anime that airs during the week isn't acceptable to CN's ass-level "standards" of what they air, so they'd try to cancel it within the same month it premieres. "If it's anime, it belongs on Toonami!" said some nobody at CN.

  3. I have to admit, I wasn't expecting to see a Megaman 1995 era cartoon fanart piece above. I was pleasantly surprised about that since I still dig the 95 cartoon. Also I like muratas megaman concept shown above, pretty cool design.

  4. Know what's funny? I ended up accidentally celebrating the less-celebrated "Roll Day" (06/06), this year… but, I completely-and-totally forgot about Rock Day.
To be fair, though, I was expecting company (who never showed up) and celebrating someone else's birthday, that day. So!

This is some nice art, though.
