Marvel vs. Capcom 4 Reportedly in Development; Reveal Soon

I've withheld posting these rumors until something a little more substantial came along. Lo and behold, Polygon confirms it: Marvel vs. Capcom 4 is happening.

"Although Capcom hasn’t officially announced the game, we’ve been told the company will unveil Marvel vs. Capcom 4 this week alongside Sony’s PlayStation Experience event where the Capcom Cup 2016 Street Fighter 5 tournament will be held," writes Polygon.

Sources go on to tell Polygon that "fans of the series should expect Marvel vs. Capcom 4's roster of Marvel characters to draw strongly from the cinematic universe that Marvel Studios has popularized — and has full control over — during the past decade." That means fans can expect to see characters from The Avengers or even Guardians of the Galaxy. With a greater focus on MCU characters, this could mean we'll little to no X-Men characters.

Polygon's sources did not provide any information regarding which Capcom characters will join the fourth bout. With PlayStation Experience not too far off (December 3-4), perhaps we'll hear something sooner than later. Fingers crossed for more Mega Man!

  1. I'm definitely hoping they'll bring back Zero. (with Johnny Yong Bosche reprising his role) Though if not Zero, at least X.

  2. Finally! Real Mega Man-related game news. It's about time. (Although I would wager that most of us would prefer a flagship series game.)

Now we all wait for the inevitable Capcom snub where Mega Man and Co. completely are absent from the game but Mega Man stickers are included as a pre-order bonus.

    1. BTW, a sarcasm tag should have followed the final paragraph of that initial post. The comment system removed it for some reason...

  3. I'm underwhelmed.
MvC3 was a real letdown. Even if they make 4 it'll be just as bad as 3, if not worse. Plus it'll probably won't be on Nintendo so I won't be buying it anyway.

    1. Wow, you are a very negative person!!! I am sure that it will be on Nintendo Switch since Capcom sign up for Nintendo Switch as a 3rd party already. Excuse me but you need to be a positive person. Jeez!

  5. Hoping at least one version of Mega Man shows up, though original would be best.

  6. Guh... I get that the Cinematic Universe is a cash cow for Marvel, but I really dislike how much they play into that to the point that it's affecting the comic universe and now may affect this game.

Here's hoping for some good Mega Man characters though!

  7. Being hardcore into the VS series I'd like to see it, but nothing will beat Tatsunoko VS Capcom for me.

  9. Interesting.

I wonder if there will be another wave of contradictory non-excuses about how Mega Man can't possibly be in the game in any form again.

Or if they'll add Mega Man after all and pretend Niitsuma's "reasoning" with Marvel 3 didn't happen.

    Could be fun either way.

    1. I can possibly think of one..

"Due to the Popular Inclusion of Megaman in the Super Smash Bros Series, We feel like he is more true to his roots then he was in a traditional fighting game, so we have decided to not allow him to partake in this fight unfortunately."

    2. I don't know if essentially saying that another company being able to make their character fit in their game better than Capcom could themselves would be an excuse that would go over well.

That said, I suppose anything is possible.

    3. I have a feeling that Niitsuma won't have anything to do with MvC4, and if so... maybe, just maybe, we might actually get Mega Man this time.

  10. Mega Man Characters I'd like to see included in another VS. Series installment would be:
Mega Man (Star Force) [Alt. Costume: either MMSF1&2 design or Geo Stelar.]
Roll (Classic) [Alt. Costume: MM8 Roll]
Zero (X) [Alt. Costume: Mega Man Zero design]
    Bass.EXE (Battle Network)
    Tron Bonne (Legends)

I think this would be a good way to represent most of the franchise, while making sure every Mega Man character included brings something different to the table.
I'll be good if ANY Mega Man gets in the game though, I just feel Star Force Mega Man has the most potential for a VS. Series title.

  11. Why not bring Zero, Z, Rockman, Bad Box Art MegaMan and Tron Bonne at once? It will make our days!

  12. i dont care that x was a reskin of zero in mvc3... i just wish they went the extra mile and changed his name, quotes andvstory when using that skin.

that being said, mvc4 should have either classic, x, and/or voulnut first, before considering any other representatives. realistically, we will be lucky to get even 1 depending on roster size.

    1. Volnutt would be easiest since his model was in Tatsunoko VS Capcom like Zero's & they had no problem "porting" him over into MvC3

    2. Zero's UMvC3 model and move-set and subsequently animations are completely different to his TvC:UAS'.

      So there goes that suggestion.

    3. They are more or less the same model and majority of moves. Just optimized for a new game.

  13. What I want in this game:
    Zero (MMX or MMZ)
    Omega and Omega Zero (MMZ)
Bass.EXE (GS and FBeast) and Megaman (GBeast) (MMBN)
    Rogue, Megaman (Black Ace) (MMSF)
Nero L, Zehr, Over-1 (Rockman Xover)

  14. Should these rumers be true,Hopefully the Mega Man franchise will be represented Properly this time. Classic,X,EXE,or Voulnut would be best.
