Mega Man Legacy Collection Release Date Confirmed; Physical Version Next Year

We've got some nice tidbits of Mega Man Legacy Collection news today! First and foremost, we have a release date. MMLC will launch on August 25th across PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC for $14.99 (€14.99/£11.99). The Nintendo 3DS version is still on track for 2016.

What's more, due to strong fan-feedback, Capcom has decided to give the PS4, Xbox One and 3DS versions a physical release in early 2016 for $29.99. More details are expected to be shared at a later date.

(Fun fact: this is the first physical Mega Man game to be sold at retail in five years.)

  1. I'd probably go for it if they added Mega Man 7, 8, 9, 10, Mega Man & Bass, and/or the Game Boy games. In fact, if they added some of the more obscure games like Rockboard, Rockman & Forte Wonderswan, or Wily Tower, I'd really, really consider it. I mean, if you're going to do a restoration collection, by all means go all out.

    1. I agree. There's no reason the physical collection should cost upwards 30 dollars when it can be purchased digitally for half that price. I think a fairer price point would be $20 if there are only 6 games megaman available. After all, other retro compilations have more than double or triple the number of games this collection has -- and those other collections still retail for less!

    2. $30 comes to $5 a game, less than the Complete Works titles on PSN (not counting sales), but you can actually read the text and have the extras this is coming with. $30 may not be a steal but I don't think it's ridiculous either.

The physical version may just be what moved me off the fence. I hope these kinds of updates due to feedback is a sign of more to come.

  2. I want to pick up the physical version, but at the same time, I want to get it on it's early August 25th release, too.

If they were smart, they'd have released the physical roughly the same time as the digital release. >_>

  3. US pricing is wrong, should be $14.99. Also, EU pricing is €14.99/£11.99.

  6. 3DS version coming eventually, Wii U version coming never.
It's reassuring that they know how to market to the majority of MegaMan fans who still buy contemporary game consoles...
