Mega Man Battle Network 2 Hits Wii U Virtual Console (North America)

Battle Network fans, rejoice -- Mega Man Battle Network 2 has arrived on Wii U in North America. This one will set you back $8 from the Nintendo eShop.

Fun fact: boot up your game and head to network menu. Check your Chip pack and you'll be greeted with several rare chips normally obtained through trading (the purple star shows up on the title screen too). This is compensation for the Virtual Console's incapability to link two games.

I suspect this will be the case with all Virtual Console Battle Network games here on out...

  1. What I consider the best of the original trilogy is finally out. I'll have to pick it up first thing when I get a Wii U.

    1. May not be the best in my eyes per se, but it's most certainly my favorite. I was introduced to the series with this game, so it's that fun mix of nostalgia and the way this game played that wins it for me. Heh, looking at it, the original MM2 was hardly what many would consider the best made of the classic series, but it's still most peoples' favorite. Hell, BN2 even has its own version of Metal Blades in that crazy OP Gate Magic folder setup...

      Ah, memories...

  2. Well I'm glad they put in some sort of work around for the multiplayer stuff.

  3. Lemme know if Lan still says 'Damn.'

    1. Lan isn't the only one who says it; Gauss (one of the boss' operators) also does when he's defeated. Frankly, it's a miracle it's still E for Everyone.

  4. Just waiting for 3.

Still, kind of annoyed they're not doing anything for multiplayer. I was hoping this could spark a PvP resurgence.

    1. Believe me, I would have loved to play PvP as well. It likely would've cost too much money to get that to work, especially with this just being a port. I'm glad they gave us the PvP and event chips to compensate.

  5. Is it a little too much to hope for BN5 VC having BassCross along with other e-Reader elements? It makes you wonder, I mean, they DIDN'T HAVE to put GateSP and the Gospel chips in, but they did it anyway.

  6. Well, it only took the VC release for me to get that stupid purple star. I can't remember how many times me and my brother tried to get that damn thing. Now FINALLY we can play on hard mode!
