Kickstarter Launches for TruForce's Mega Man X Figure

The Kickstarter for TruForce's officially-licensed Mega Man X figure went live today and it looks as stunning as ever. To get it off the drawing board and on to your shelf, they're going to need some help covering production fees. That's where you come in.

TruForce writes:

"We’ve recently acquired the rights from Capcom to create one of video gaming’s most popular and widely recognized characters ever…Mega Man! This is an officially licensed product and we want to bring him to life on your shelf in a style that is fresh and unique."

As you can see in the illustration and official prototype image, X from Mega Man X is still the character we all know and love but with an added stylized flavor we think is really great. Sure there are tons of Mega Man figures on the market today but none quite like this. This rendition of X is beautifully proportioned and features sleek lines throughout to help give the character a more detailed, streamlined, mechanized look. The official color palette features a variety of smooth blues with fluorescent accents and ruby gems in the helmet as well.
Here’s a more detailed list of what this figure will entail:

  • Fully poseable with over 30 points of articulation
  • Diecast armor parts on the chest, shin and feet
  • LED Functionality
  • Swappable face/hand parts
  • Combinable effects parts
  • Base/Support Stand
  • 6 inches tall
  • PVC, ABS, PA, Diecast materials

Once the painted prototype has been approved, there’s the whole production part that takes up most of the budget: mold creation, material injection, paint, assembly, packaging and shipping. That’s the expensive stuff. But with your help, we can cover all this! Plus you get those cool backer rewards depending on your contribution.

Since we're still in the initial phase of production, there's a lot left to do on this guy. We decided to use the money raised from this kickstarter to help cover licensing costs, event promotion costs and production costs.

The tl;dr version: With a successful Kickstarter, TruForce will be able to make the necessary investments to produce the figure without cutting corners.

Backer rewards include t-shirts, official Ride Chaser concept art by Keisuke Mizuno, and a one of a kind "Test-Color X" figure. Just look at this guy:

So, what say you, Mega Fans? Are you in? If so, you can find and donate to the Kickstarter here.

  1. Great looking pieces, but I find it tough to put down over 200 dollars for two figures...

    1. Why not just $80 for one? Do you really need both?

Also, the tier for the extra figure also has other stuff as a reward, like the shirt for example.

  2. Considering the variant will sell for that alone its worth it. But i hate kickstarters. What happens if thr goal isn't met? Do we get our money back? Why can't company's just make a dang product?

    1. "Why can't company's just make a dang product?"

because they don't have the money to mass produce it, but have the means and will to make it.

"What happens if thr goal isn't met? Do we get our money back?"
Kickstarter projects do NOT get funded unless the goal is met. if the goal is 200,000 and they only make 100,000, then the project is never funded.

backers ONLY get charged for their contribution IF it reaches it's goal.

    2. According to the Kickstarter FAQ, "Funding on Kickstarter is all-or-nothing. No one will be charged for a pledge towards a project unless it reaches its funding goal." So there you have it! If you're on the fence, I'd say just go ahead and donate so that you can show your support for something you like!

    1. Because Capcom doesn't fund licensed products.

      Licensing works like this:

You either purchase, or obtain permission- to use the character from the company that owns it. So from there on, it's up to the licensee to make the product they want to make. These guys need kickstarter for it because they HAVE a prototype and shit that they are working with, they HAVE the means to make it, but not the money to mass produce it.

  4. I dunno... something just seems... off... about this figure. It looks great, but... it's not looking like the line art... EXACTLY.

  5. Will the X-variant ACTUALLY be a EXCLUSIVE????? As in, not come out again for those who didn't back up. Because I have seen some many figures claiming to be "exclusive" but yet they come out again like on normal online sites. Not being a actual exclusive.

    1. I think it will be. Kickstarter exclusive stuff usually stays exclusive as opposed to like Comic Con exclusives that then sometimes get sold off later if they failed to sell out at the con.

I'm betting there will be plenty of people reselling it online for a pretty penny though. Like $150+. Hell, I'm debating getting two of the exclusives just to resell one, haha.

  6. Well I'm going for the $80 single figure tier. I wish there was a tier that just had the two figures, or even one that only has the variant color. The shirt is kind of meh and I don't think I'd do anything with the art, but that variant color looks so sweeeet.

  7. And... backed! =)

If this doesn't get funded, I'm going to freakin' cry.

  8. $80.00 for the figure is a fair price considering that it has Die Cast Metal parts. Then there is the added $20.00 for the shirt. And you get a custom print of the Chaser which I'm sure costs money since it's a custom art by Capcom artists. Yes they probably could of made it as a choice between the two figures. But what it looks like they did was made a third figure like the first variant one but it has effect parts... That turn red???? I may go with the $230.00 instead of the $210.00 because the first variant just has orange scheme...

    1. I think is has extra parts, like buster shots or thuster flare options that are red. Based on most figures its not a third figure but just options added in

  9. The figure looks a little off to me, I don't know if the problem is the torso or what. Personally I see no point on paying for this figure, if it was true Mega Man design and something rare, like a figure of a character that never got a figure before, then yes I will support that but this is not my cup of tea, but of course I wish them look.

  10. I want this. I really do. I really, really do. But I can't justify spending $80 for it. TT^TT
Maybe when I get my next paycheck, I'll give them a small boost. But not $80... *cries in a corner*

  12. I have absolutely no interest into collection of such items, but I must say that these are quite impressive.
