Mighty No. 9: New Boss, New Stretch Goals

We've got a nice batch of Might No. 9 news today. First off, a new boss has been revealed: Mighty No. 1. The theme going on here is fire and lots of it. He may look big upon first glance, but No. 1 is actually very thin. The flames are extremely dangerous to Beck, so hit him when they go out.

Next up, we have a set of expanded stretch goals for the Kickstarter campaign. A lot of content has been added to the list and this is by no means the end all be all. In other words, just because portables have not been added doesn't mean they won't show up in the future. So without further adieu, the new goals:

  • $2 Million: Boss Rush Mode -- a separate mode where you can challenge all the bosses in the game, back-to-back, and clock your best times.
  • $2.4 Million: Challenge Mode -- Similar to the challenge mode in New Super Mario Bros. U, this mode will remix parts of existing levels and enemies to create dozens of mini-missions.
  • $2.55 Million: Extra End Stage and Boss -- Adds an additional stage with an original boss to the final area Beck takes after defeating all eight Mighty No. bosses.
  • $2.75 Million: Beck and Call Online Co-Op Challenge Mode -- This one is pretty awesome. It's an online mode where you and a friend tackle over a dozen missions. One player is Beck, the other is Call! These missions feature remixed stages with a heavy focus on cooperative play. Players will need to properly utilize Beck and Call's unique powers to conquer these special stages.
  • $2.9 Million: TBA
  • $3.1 Million: ???
  • $3.3 Million: PS4 and Xbox One Versions -- Self explanatory. If the team reaches this much funding, the game will hit both consoles (backers can even add the PS4 and Xbox One as a choice for their digital version of the game to choose from).

And that's all there is today. For some of the finer details, head over to today's Kickstarter update. As always, let the team know what you think. They are listening!

  1. Though I would love to see MN9 feature non-humanoid robot masters, I do like this design. I do find it humorous that the stereotypical elemental robots are coming out. I never understood that in the original Rockman series. Fire, wind, ice, etc. gets old after the 2nd rehash.

  2. So why is the online co-op not a priority?
Seems like a pretty effing major gameplay feature.

Somebody drank the Nintendo Kool-Aid a little too hard, IMO.

  3. Eh, I gotta say... I'm not very impressed with either of the (finalized) boss designs they've shown so far.

  4. I actually agree. Co-op mode should definitely be more top priority. It'd be nice for Call to have a bigger role instead of just being the speculated operator or something. And it'd be a nice homage to what MM1 was originally going to have. I guess they just put it down later to give people more incent to make it to that stretch goal...

Extra end stage bonuses do sound great though.

  5. You guys know that stable net code for online modes and giving a second character a skillset that balances out with the main's one both cost aditional time and money the original singleplayer offline game didn't need, right?

Because priority por not, it is not en easy task

    1. Still, I'd rather the co-op be placed BEFORE some of these goals. For example, the making of documentary. I don't care how Might No 9 is made nor the background, I care about stuff I can actually PLAY WITH. Take out the documentary and we could've had Boss Rush already and near approaching the PS3/360/WiiU versions.

I don't agree with the Kickstarter's priorities. At all. And there are many people who are being like that right now, and won't fund until it's near certain their goal(the consoles) will be achieved for sure. And it's this combination that's holding the remaining money from reaching the kickstarter.

    2. Are people still bitching about the documentary, really? Is already funded, deal with it guys.

    3. Am I seriously the only person who likes the idea of the documentary?

  6. I feel like the body is a stripped down Heatman/Fireman (.exe) and Flameman's full body fire thing. The face/head looks familiar too... If anyone can tell me where I'm seeing it from or if I'm just plain crazy that would be appreciated.

    1. You're an idiot.

This is a real Mega Man game.

    2. No lol, it's Megaman (CLASSIC and X) the true serie, not this rip-off, seriously guys, you dont know what you want....It's like if you say "iron man" was the new batman, yeah, it's not a good exemple, but you see? You dont have real heroes then.

    3. Your example doesn't make sense. Mno9 is made by Keij inafune with a huge number if veteran mega man staff. It features the core MM gameplay elements, 8 bosses, Rock Paper Scissors weakness system

    4. Have fun waiting for Capcom to made a "Real" MM game then.

Meanwhile, we'll be having fun with our game made by Megaman's Creator and a full team of different MM game series veterans.

    5. Does it have "Mega Man" in the title? Does it feature characters from any of the Mega Man series?

M#9 is made by some of the same people and has the potential to be a good game but it isn't Mega Man.

      @ TekkZero

Inafune did not create Mega Man. The first game was already in production when he came onto to the project. Like many video game characters during that time period, Mega Man's sprite was designed around the technical limitations of the hardware. Inafune took the sprites that were already in place and created the series art style.

    6. Nope.

IF they could, you better believe this would have Mega Man in the title. THIS is the Mega Man game Inafune wanted to make. HD, multiplatform, classic gameplay+new things.

      DEAL WITH IT.

I'm sure they would. But they don't.

      DEAL WITH IT.
