We're Getting an Official Mega Man Board Game

No relation to RockBoard. Sorry!

This is something I've known about for a little while now, but it looks like the cat is (almost) out of the bag. So here it is: Jasco Games, makers of the Universal Fighting System trading card game, have announced they will be producing a Mega Man board game. It's an officially licensed product due somewhere between late 2013/early 2014.

...and that's all that can be said for now. I've spoken with Jasco and it sounds like I should be getting a few images of the board and additional details soon. We'll keep you up to date!

  8. This is interesting news. When I was a kid I had plans for a Mega Man board game involving simple card battles. It was a lot like this one X-Men board game I loved playing where you would gather a team of X-Men and explore the mansion while fighting villains. I revisited the concept a couple years ago and even made a few game pieces (including a blue Yahtzee can for the dice that I made look like an E Tank) but in a fit of creator's block, lack of confidence, and procrastination, never finished it. I do hope it's something my like idea where it involves fighting robot masters and acquiring their powers.

  9. Capcom at the end of the year: What we released like 20 MM games this year, they were re-releases on Virtual console but they still count... that not enough? Well we did release a NEW game... a board game! We never said he's getting a new video game *insert trollface.jpg here*

Happy Birthday Mega Man! Now may you rest in peace.

  10. A board game, eh? Let's hope my local stores carry it (and that it's actually fun).

  11. Boardgame, as in, tabletop? Or like Monopoly?

  12. I'm so pessimistic. I just kind of assume this board game will be cross-series (Classic, X, Legends, etc.) and get continuities mixed up. People love to do that, for whatever reason.

  13. I donno why but something in me instantly thought of a licensed version of chutes and ladders.

  14. The artwork posted was misleading. I was expecting some sort of official translation of Rockboard coming to the VC. Well I guess that's too much to ask for.

I don't think an actual board game is that bad though. I mean, it's better than car freshers at least.
