Off-Screen Mega Man vs. Mario Smash Bros. Gameplay

When it rains it pours. IGN brings us more footage of Mega Man in Super Smash Bros., this time in a one-on-one brawl against Mario. Also, do pardon the announcer; he's trying his best.

There's some debate about a move Mega Man pulls off that has yet to be announced. Just before Sudden Death, you can see an attack reminiscent of Mega Man 2's Air Shooter (or MM6's Wind Storm). What do you make of it?

Thanks for the tip, Shin!

  3. If I didn't know better, I'd say that was actually X's version of Spiral Pegasus' "Wing Spiral". As far as classic series weapons go, though, the only other thing I can think of that makes that specific tornado effect is Tornadoman's version of Tornado Blow or possibly Tenguman's Tornado Hold.

  4. It looks like a large Air Shooter, but there's only one, so it can't be that. I don't think it's Wind Storm because it's suppose to travel on the ground moving forward, and it clearly went straight up. I almost want to say it's Tornado Blow but there are usually multiple on screen. And it isn't Tornado Hold either.

Maybe it's a new weapon in an upcoming game....? Nah...

  6. I'd be willing to call it Air Shooter if you are, it has the upward arc even if there's only one. That said, the Wind Storm did carry things upward with it once it hit some things...

Sick damage on that down smash too, wow. So far Mega Man is looking very fun to play.

  7. It's the Slash Claw, Slashman's weapon from Mega Man 7.

  8. The weapon is likely Air Shooter. Yeah, it doesn't go up vertically like that in MM2, but they had to take some liberty with it. Neither SparkMan nor FlameMan's weapons actually work that way in their respective games either. They have to take some liberties to make it work in Smash.
