Rockman Xover Boss Contest Winner: Arcade Man

The winner of the Rockman Xover boss character contest held earlier this year has been revealed on Rockman Unity. Say hello to Arcade Man, created by a one Mr. boss13. Arcade Man will soon appear in Xover as an original Master Boss and Battle Memory. As the name implies, he uses attacks based on numerous Capcom arcade games. Creative, no?

The runner-up winners, Tabletman, "There" and Dharman will appear as original Battle Memory cards in the very near future. Head over to Rockman Unity and check them out!

Thanks for the tip, Mac.

  1. Creative but questionable, just like everything else associated with this... thing.

  2. Well there's the REAL answer why Xover isn't getting localized in the west, Arcade Man would instantly die there!

    R.I.P. Megaman...

  4. Would be good to see him a (real) game. To bad he won't, looks like an interesting boss.

  5. In a more traditional sidescrolling/platformer, I imagine his weapon to be something like the following:

    YOU GOT:
    RETRO PROJECTOR

*Megaman summons a holographic image of an 80s/90s arcade CAPCOM character, a la Copy Vision from MM&B*

    Ryu throws a hadouken
    Arthur throws a lance
    Captain Commando does C.Fire
Strider Hiryu does a single swipe
    etc.

  6. If there is (ever) a Mega Man 11 and this guy doesn't appear as a boss I will cry in sadness. Honestly he is just too good to be a boss in just Xover.

Also what's with these people acting like the franchise has been instantly killed simply because the winner for a competition has been announced? Y'all need to show some maturity and realise not every aspect of the fandom is about Classic, X and Legends.

  7. Arcade Man, huh? If only he had the power to make games as good as they were back when there were arcades...

  8. Alas, CheapBastard Man. The day was not ours.

    Strider's special move is "Gram".

Thanks, I honestly didn't know that move had a name. I was just thinking of a generic slash with his Cypher/Sypher/Cipher/etc.

  12. I don't think it'd be easy to do him in actual NES 8-bit, but I say the nature of the character lends itself extremely well to the crossover nature of XOver, for... whatever that's worth. XOver is XOver, after all.

All in all, it's a design I'd have gotten behind if I were in charge. Granted if I were in charge there'd be other things I'd change, but, uh, point stands, I like the winner.

  13. I love it. I don't think enough people have seen the submissions to the original rockman games to appreciate this sort of thing.

  14. Lol! As much as I love to pretend (and wish) that Xover doesn't exist, this is actually pretty creative! Congrats to the winner, but it's just too bad it couldn't be enjoyed in something that isn't Xover. ;.; Do the winner some justice and put this character in a game that actually shows you tried, Capcom. I guess I am asking for too much.

  15. @ April 13, 2013 2:08 AM Anon: There's a somewhat bad 8-bit sprite supplied with the art work. Needless to say it definitely wouldn't work. Even 16 or 32 would most likely have problems. It'd have to be 3D.

  16. a robotmaster no megaman 100% related but with an other serie "G&Goblins"....i don't like SFxmm and this robotmaster too....

Capcom want try to put push megaman "out of the fans" ?

    enjoy (sorry for my english...)

  17. @emmanuelf06: It's a fan design. The reason it has Ghost n Goblins is because it was an arcade title and the original designer put that game on him. MegaMan was never an arcade game except for The Power Battle, but that would break the 4th wall.

  18. This has nothing to do with the fact that I don't like Xover, but I'm not really digging the design. I personally preferred Wily Birthday Cake Machine. :P
