Solicitation for Archie’s Mega Man #22 Now Available

Courtesy of Mega Man Monthly, here's the latest solicitation for Mega Man #22, coming in February 2013:

(W) Ian Flynn (A) Gary Martin & Various (CA) Matt Herms & Various

Cold Crush.’ Is love in the air – or is that just frost? Mega Man, Roll, and Quake Woman go to the far north to assist Ice Man in a perilous research mission. Will Roll’s attempt at match-making be more hazardous than the ice?

Ice Man's fondness for Roll dates all the way back to Battle & Chase, what with that giant snow sculpture and all. Will he finally reveal his true romantic feelings? Guess we'll have to wait to find out!

At this time, it remains unclear who will be penning the interior art for this issue. However, that info should drop when Archie reveals further solicitation later this month.

  1. Wow, never thought I'd see the return of this pairing. I mean, heck, Rock and Roll has been more popular as a couple, especially after Powered Up, despite the two being close siblings. But then again, one could also say that Ice Man is essentially also a sibling....

    1. Although it seems to be implied that Roll is not interested and constantly rejects him by ignoring his obvious intentions. For what i see Ice Man interest on Roll is being used as a joke

  2. Rock and Roll are robots, there just as much siblings as Ice Man and Roll, and Splash Woman and Rock are.

Plus, every other versions of Rock and Roll have at least implied something between those versions.

  3. Eh, I've never cared much for implied robocest, to be honest. As far as specifically Ice Man and Roll goes, I always liked the kind of relationship they had in Ariga's works the best, where they're close but you can see it's a familial/platonic bond.

  4. I don't normally let robocest get to me either, especially since they're robots. But I've always viewed Rock and Roll as being incredibly close siblings, much more closer than in comparison to Light's other robots. They were created as a pair after all, and are essentially twins.

  5. "They were created as a pair after all, and are essentially twins."

How? They how no blood to make them truly anything more than robots who call themselves family, and regardless of what one may think, Capcom made a few cellphone games back in the day that made them an item, as was said Mega Man Powered Up implied Roll has a crush on Rock, and again the "other versions of Rock and Roll have at least implied something between those versions", hell Battle Networks version of them get together and have a son.

    1. not just megaman powered up, in mangas like megaman 8 manga and megaman and bass manga we see clear indications of crush from roll to megaman, we get a valentine present with a heart chocolate, we see a pincture with megaman and roll holding their hands together blushing while jumping happily as a sunset shaped in the form of a heart fall down

and in megaman megamix we get a bit indications but not as clear as the other manga, but the author of megaman megamix happens to be the same who did megaman r20 complete works, and in this book we get pages where roll get jealous whenever other girl is with megaman

  6. I don't get why people think someone has to be related by blood to be siblings. As someone with an adopted sister myself, I can tell you right now that the thought of anyone having romantic feelings for someone they may even only consider to be their sibling is total squick to me. Why should it matter whether they're just robots, or "not blood related"?

  7. Awesome!

What about Bass and Roll? I would love if Ian makes that fan pairing official.

  8. I'm not complaining about anything to this comic since I love what Archie's doing for our favorite robot boy. Original episodes does gives us good taste for more excitement like how Sonic comics are doing today. But since "When Worlds Collide" gonna come next year, maybe they should start making the MM3 epic in order to help Bass catch up with his debut before its too late.

  9. Roll / Iceman wouldn't be odd at all were it not for the HEAVY familial tone between Roll, Rock, and Blues. Because of that it's a bit .... icky.

Archie has tackled this sort of thing pretty directly (like Pharaoh questioning MM's name and whether he ought to be called "copy man"), though, so I wonder if they'll actually refer to it in this issue.

  10. @October 20, 2012 9:36 PM Anonymous: Basically, what the Anon below you said. You do not have to be related by blood to be siblings. In the Rock and Roll's case, Light INTENDED them to be brother and sister when he created the two, and therefore it's only natural that they are.

It does not matter, I've already pointed out that Capcom implied it.

And why put real world logic into this? a lot of animes and video games throw logic about something like this out the window.

Not the same Anonymous as the other guy, but technically it's not people not blood related are not in the wrong, but morally since you grew up with the person you may think of it as wrong.

Trust me, there have been people who have fell in love with there adopted brother or sister, we just don't hear about it often, because it's personal stuff.

But maybe I'm thinking to much about the fictional story about a robot boy, who fights a evil mad scientist.

    :/

  13. I think we're looking a bit too much into that. It's not that abnormal for young siblings to develop "crushes" on each other. My bet is they're much too young in how they're programmed to really know what real, romantic love is.

  14. Damn technicalities and the unfortunate implications they provide. XD Oh well. This looks like a really cute story and I'm looking foward to how Ian handles this one. :)

  15. Rock and Roll were designed to be siblings. Ice Man and Roll weren't. Otherwise, you might as well say Rush and Tango are Mega Man's brothers, and that's just... weird.

    1. Lol what???
that doesnt make sense at all, if rock and roll were meant to be siblings then at least they should share sibling characteristics, you know, resemble each other to tell as if they were related like vent and aile from megaman zx or astroboy and uran; they dont share enough resemblance to say they are siblings

Besides, the original story says that megaman and roll were created as parntner helper robots to help dr light with different tasks on the house, megaman as lab assitant and roll as housekeeper, not siblings

its obviously a misconception, and if they were created as siblings then capcom wouldnt let release mangas like megaman 8 manga or megaman and bass manga were we see many ndication of rolls crush on megaman, specially that valentine present roll gave to megaman that happens to be a honmei-choco(no doubt sicn honmei choco is expensive and fancy and giri isnt and the shop roll bought the valentine rpesent said "fancy chocolate")

Honemi-choco are menat for you true love, crushes, husbands, boyfriends, any person you hold romantic feelings for, the giri is for anyone else you dont have romantic feelings and can be co workers, fmaily members, friends, etc, the difference strives on the price and that giri dont look as pretty and fancy as the honmei

    2. Actually you need to read between lines, the story says that Roll was dsigned to be a helper robot and her creation was meant to be also a companion for Rock so he would have a to leave home by being like a sister but not true sister in the circuits, the only way would be to brainwash Roll to think as if Rock was truly a sibling which doesnt sound right at all

Mega Man Powered Up says otherwise.

Also, Mega Man Megamix calls the MM1 Robot masters Mega Man's bothers.

    1. Well, calling them brothers would be a way to say that they share a creator but not a biological father, its not so different to families that adopt kids and although they are not related they call the others brothers

    1. Roll was also implied to have a crush on Rock in Powered Up. I don't think you want to use that game for this argument.

    2. Mega Man Megamix was another licensed book, and another author's view of the Mega Man series. It didn't come straight from Capcom, and Archie hasn't been using it as any sort of resource. It really doesn't factor into this.

    1. Not just in powered up but also in Rockman Jump(rescue princess Roll) and hints like Roll bringing flowers to megaman in Marvel vs Capcom, but the biggest hint is her song called kazeyo in japanese which in Rockman 6 from Complete Works is revealed to be played from Roll to Megaman during teh credits after beating teh game, here a video with exlanation and the sources in the show more button:

I dont see them as siblings cause they dont look as siblings and having same creator means nothing cuase its not as different as fecundation in vitro

You really think a pair of robots by different scientist is gonna be better?
    then how about
