Project X Zone: Tron Bonne, Servbot Screenshots

Famitsu.com unleashed a bevy of new Project X Zone screenshots, and among them are a some nice shots of Tron and her Servbots in action. Have a look:

Project X Zone is due on October 11. Whether or not the game will release outside of Japan is still a looming mystery. That decision rests with Namco Bandai, not Capcom.

Be sure to check out Andriasang's full report for more screenshots.

  3. I don't think I'm ever going to be happy seeing a Legends character in a crossover ever again. It makes no logical sense.

"We're going to keep shilling these characters in our other games because they're popular, but apparently, not popular enough to warrant their next game."

  4. @Cyberguy: I don't think popularity has anything to do with it.
I mean, think about it: Pretty much every crossover game has a few unknown and forgotten characters alongside with the new hotness.

  5. @cyberguy: Agreed, utterly and completely. I find it stupid to keep putting Legends/Servbots in almost EVERYTHING they do if they arent going to actually give us a new Legends game :(

  6. @cyberguy: Oh really now? Tell that to the Darkstalkers fans, half of the TvC roster, and several other franchises. You haven't even been gameless as long as they have so dont start.

Except that Capcom is dropping MANY hints that Darkstalkers is getting a new game (all that's left is the announcement really)and the half that hasn't had a game more recent than legends 2 in TvC are the anime characters, saki (from a quiz game) batsu, and of course MM Volnutt

  8. On the Darkstalkers-vs-Legends discussion, I must raise serious objections.

First of all, 12 years versus 15 years is hardly worth quibbling over, but Darkstalkers despite lacking original releases has enjoyed greater appreciation from Capcom by way of ports, remakes, compilations spanning the Dreamcast, PS2, and PSP. Outside of Japan, Legends enjoys none of that. Not only is Legends lacking in an original game for the last 12 years, but there is no marketable Legends game PERIOD in this entire hemisphere during that timeframe. You can't say the same thing for Darkstalkers.

Also, none of those other franchises dragged along the fans for a new game before shattering their hopes with a baseless cancelation.

Seeing the Legends cast in crossovers used to be fun, but now, after everything Capcom has put Megaman through, it just feels cheap and wrong.

  11. @Hypershell: Darkstalkers VAs and music have stood the test of time far better than the original Legends games. I booted them up for the first time in years yesterday, and shut them off after 20 minutes because the voices were so annoying. Time has not been nice to the Legends games.

  12. The bottom right image looks like it's animated. Either that's intro material, or the game has animated cutscenes.....

  13. Probably just the intro, like Namco X Capcom

  14. Holy mac. I’m buying a 3DS. As soon as I know this is getting localized. Just looking at those screens of the animated sequence…. MAN.

On another note: Caption that animated screen of Tron! XD

    Opinions man

  16. Heh, looks like Capcom still ain't letting the hands off from Tron for being in every crossover games. But at least they're putting some Mega Man characters (although not the original) in the game, so its okay with me.

But I'm still disappointed that some furry characters like Sonic and Klonoa not in the game. Do Asia really hate furry characters that much?

  17. Since it's up to Namco Bandai to localize it, it's pretty much a total crapshoot. Xillia is getting localized, but not Innocence and the original Graces. Endless Frontier would have stayed in Japan were it not for Atlus (and the second one never left Japan).

You know what we must do. Everyone go bug Atlus, and failing that, XSeed, about it.

  18. Cyberguy, can we stop angsting over it? It's not getting made, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy their presence in another crossover. What you're saying is you'd rather have no Legends characters.

Capcom hasn't said anything about X9, but that doesn't mean they should remove Zero (and X) from any and all future crossovers. Darkstalkers characters (namely Morrigan) are only just now getting an installment, and they've appeared in crossovers from nearly the start. If anything, this would serve to BUILD popularity.

Look at Marth in Super Smash Bros. Melee. Practically no one knew about him except for the most hardcore of the hardcore before Melee. Since they didn't remove him for the English release, everyone grew curious and his game eventually came over (but not the second part).

I'm not making any promises or anything, as Legends 3 isn't likely to be revived, but putting these characters in a game will help raise awareness, and eventually I'd imagine we'd get the Darkstalkers situation.

I can understand one's angst over Bad Box Art Mega Man (the timing could not have been worst), but there is absolutely nothing wrong with Tron being in Project X Zone. I think it's time to get over Legends 3. They are, unfortunately, not making it, but it can't be helped.

  19. @July 25, 2012 10:32 PM Anon: I must say though, his opinion is a very valid point. I myself also find the VAs outdated and annoying now. There are probably others that share that same feeling as well. For all you know, some of the people at Capcom share that same feeling.

  20. Klonoa and Guntz were in Namco X Capcom, so I don't know why they're not here too :(

  21. @Cyberguy: Tron being a playable character MIGHT raise awareness of Legends, but it's no guarantee that Capcom will do anything meaningful with the series. There's also a strong chance that she's only there because she's been in crossovers before (so has Volnutt, but there's no sign of him).

Don't get me wrong--I'm glad that Capcom doesn't seem to be totally ignoring Legends, but I don't wanna get my hopes up, either.

And I feel like a broken record...but there was more to MML3's loss than just "we didn't get a game". Capcom has not done anything to restore my trust in them ever since then, and in fact crossed a few more lines (see: their abysmal treatment of Yoshinori Ono).

  22. Strongly agreeing with July 26, 2012 5:47 AM Anonymous' comment. There is nothing wrong with including characters, even those who were meant to appear in a cancelled game, in crossover games. Sure it's not the same as getting the game itself, but it's also better than letting these characters be forgotten entirely.

And even then, why NOT include Tron and the Servbots in Project X Zone? They, along with Trigger, Roll and even Juno, were in Namco x Capcom.

  23. @Anon 6:13

Maybe so, but it's not like everybody thinks so, I for one actually find the VAs kinda charming In an early anime dub kinda way and they kinda really fit in with the game. Actually they're great when you take the rest of the franchise's voice acting into consideration (take a look at MM8 and a good chunk of the X series for example)

  24. I can't throw in on this notion going around that Legends cameos are now somehow disservice. I'm sure it's common knowledge by now to anyone interested that there's a schism that existed inside of Capcom. One that let any identifiable person associated with the games to profess unbridled love Legends, but for the anonymous executives to decided to deny Legends 3 a publication still exists.

Even though it's been a year I don't know of anyone that's happy the cancellation happened. Though I'm fairly sure the creative faction of Capcom that reveled in working on Legends 3; doesn't now regret ever having cared about the series.

I know no one's suggesting it's an intentional insult. But even if I'm not planing on getting PXZ, or wowed by the characters manifesting there; it's still a sign that someone on the inside of Capcom cares about the games. Well, assuming the roster isn't Banpresto's autonomous decisions from the three companies' IP swept lists.
