Street Fighter X Tekken: No Alt Costume for Mega Man

It seems the fighting community faithful have been very busy gutting Street Fighter X Tekken for downloadable content clues. Sure enough, their efforts have paid off: every character's alternate costume has been exposed, carefully hidden away on-disc. Unfortunately for Mega Man, the big guy doesn't appear to have any alternate costumes whatsoever (though he does have lots of different colors).

For Tekken's Lei Wulong, however, it's a completely different story:

Some folks have pointed out Lei's alternate costume looks a bit like something out of the Mega Man universe, with visual elements pooled from Mega Man Volnutt and a smidgen of Zero/ZX series designs. I can see the resemblance, but it's definetly not the reparation some fans had in mind. Nonetheless, this costume (and all others discovered) will be relegated to future DLC.

Hopefully, Mega Man does have an alt. planned and it simply wasn't included on the disc. After all, it wasn't too long ago that Svensson mentioned he'd speak with Ono about a possible "traditional" costume for old man Mega. Perhaps it's being designed right now, post-production? Well, only time will tell.

  1. Oh look! More bad Megaman news!

Seriously, I'm not surprised. But whatever. Maybe when the 25th kicks off we'll see an alt. costume. I really hope we see something good this year!

  2. Forget it. Its a fraud. No matter what Svenson says, its always a lie. I gotta tell you this, NEVER TRUST CAPCOM ANYMORE.

  4. The one thing Mega Man does have just like everybody else is a selection of alternate colors that can be mixed and matched to your choosing. These will become available over time via free DLC updates (though they are also on the disc already).

  5. Svensson says a lot of things... I'll leave it at that.

  11. Another poke in the eye for the Legends fans.

Capcom never tires of provoking them.

But, hey... You can rebuild your hopes that Street Fighter X Tekken: Super Happy Smile Ultimate Edition will be released in 6 months and make all your dreams come true... AHA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!

  12. Not only is it on a character that has nothing to do with Megaman, but its also utterly hideous. Plus, you have to pay for it -_-.

  13. God, I hope they'll have something for BBAMM later on...(Though, I'm afraid as to what Ono might think of. Master troll and all)

Lei Wulong's costume looks okay, at the very least.

  14. Professor Megaman: You know, you're just making yourself look like an immature attention seeker, you know that?

  15. I don't know if I'd call this a Megaman costume.

  16. ^
It is. It's a swap costume. He's wearing MM stuff.

  17. I'm pretty sure it's not a swap costume. If it were, it'd say "swap" instead of "alternate". Each character has two additional costumes: one swap costume, and one alternate costume.

  18. I'd like to point out that the "Swap" costumes are the crossover outfits, such as Kuma as R. Mika (?!), Lei Wulong as Dan Hibiki (so... very... fitting somehow... XD), and Chun-Li as Panda (ugh...). The "Alternate" costumes are just outfits that may or may not have anything to do with the the character, such as "Wind-Up Toy" Jack-X, "Sun Wukong" Marshall Law, or .

That said, I don't think Lei Wulong's Alternate costume intentionally has much of anything to do with anything. It just coincidentally has Mega Man (Trigger?)'s color scheme. To me, it just looks like a generic "cyber cop of the future" sort of outfit. You know?

  19. You guys are clearly ignoring the much more unforgivable let-down..........WHY DOESN'T HEIHACHI HAVE A DR. WILY ALT!!!!?!?!?! >:C

  20. Do we really want to see overweight middle aged Rock?

  21. It's also worth noting that Pac-Man (and Mech-Mokujin) don't seems to have either an alternate costume nor swap costume at this time. Either they never will, or their extra costumes are genuinely downloadable Downloadable Content for a future patch/update.

And on that note, seriously, Capcom. Mega Man Powered Up should have taught you not to make pre-packaged "Downloadable" Content. It may save on download time and memory space, but someone will always find it. Konami knows better! (Okay, granted that Chapter 7, Julius and (inexplicably) Maria were already on the Castlevania: Harmony of Despair disc, but the rest of the extras weren't! :D)

  22. @TAG: I hear ya on that. I was really hoping Heihachi had a Dr. Wily swap costume, so that Mega Man could fight an even closer facsimile of his nemesis!

  23. Doubt we're getting a traditional MM outfit if there were one. Alts are crossover. Mega Man will probably get something from Namco.

Dr. Heihachi Wily would have been so BRILLIANT. Waste! Such a waste!

  24. @Anon7: No, only the swap costumes are crossover stuff. Alternate costumes aren't. And as I previously stated, each character has a swap costume and an alt costume.

@Joseph: Ya, from what I can see, Mega Man and Pac-Man don't have alternates or swaps. I have to wonder if this means Cole and the Sony Cats don't either, but there's really no way to know, since the PS3, apparently, isn't as easy to hack as the XBOX360.

As for what you said about Mega Man: Powered Up, I don't think that was really so bad, since all the DLC on that game was free.

  25. well, isn't this just bassically a huge "fuck you" to all megaman fans from capcom. with all the bad news thats related megaman wise, it's not even worth getting pissed off over anymore.

megaman characters or not, the people that play capcom fighters nonstop will be the ones to rush out and buy this game. as much as megamans design in this game is shit, I just don't care anymore about what capcom does.

i'll just enjoy the past megaman games and remember the series for what it once was. if I need a fighting game fix for megaman i'll just play marvel vs capcom 1 and 2 or tatsunoko vs capcom.

  26. @2nd Anon: Oh, you're one of those people that takes something that Capcom says and twists it into a lie. Sven never said that there was gonna be a different costume for Mega Man. He said that he was going to discuss the idea with the higher ups.

  27. I'm going to have to point you out as 'wrong' Protodude. Remember the guy you linked to for the REAL megaman endings/rival battle? He also uploaded a video with, guess with, all the DLC Skins. And strangely enough is a MEGAMAN with a more.... not BBA Megaman attire.

  28. @Kips: It's a palette change. You can change the colors on every character however you see fit.

  29. @Dr.Jerk:

And what's wrong with that? If we weren't trying to garner attention here, we'd skip posting and keep our thoughts and opinions to ourselves.

I find it amusing that Capcom is going to such great lengths to rub salt in the wounds of the Legends 3 loyalists who, rather than voice their wishes in a diplomatic way, chose to be abusive and unruly towards Capcom.

And you can't deny that there are many people right now who are mad as Hell about this "Mega Man" incarnation and hating Capcom to a "T", but as usual once they announce the retooled version they'll rebuild their hopes that THIS will finally be the time when Capcom gives in and delivers everything they want.

How many times can so many people be burned without learning their lesson?
