Mega Man X Tops MvC3 DLC Vote

The results for the fan-fueled Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 DLC polls are in and sure enough, Mega Man X came out on top.

The Maverick Hunter claimed victory of the Capcom side tonight with a total of 3,110 votes -- beating likes of other popular characters such as Phoenix Wright (2nd) and Strider (3rd), and two other Mega Man incarnations: classic (9th) and Mega Man.EXE (19th). The Battle Network incarnation of Bass and Sigma were other popular choices among fans, but ultimately placed 10th and 13th respectively.

If you intend to celebrate, do so with caution: X's victory does not necessarily guarantee the character a spot as future downloadable content. As stated on numerous occasions, this was a poll set up by the fans, not Capcom themselves. However, Capcom USA's Sven has stated they are well aware of the poll, and feedback may potentially influence future DLC.

With the poll at an end and victors declared on both sides, now's probably the time Capcom will begin to look at things a lot more closely. All we can do now is continue to support the top characters, and keep the hype alive and well.

I'll keep you informed if anything of interest develops.

  1. Megaman X was always more likely to win from the start. Adding Zero again and giving him X armor was plenty reason to begin demanding X himself.

Code for: The DLC is already set in stone, but we're going to release the DLC while pretending that we're catering to the fans' wishes.

It could also be code for: We'll take all of this into consideration... For the next crossover game.

Pleasantly surprised that Bass.EXE placed that high, though.

  3. At the very least this proves X is still a fan favorite among Capcom gamers.

If not MvC3, maybe he'll finally get another game.

That line says it all. Like I said before, they're just needlessly getting peoples' hopes up over nothing. I don't know why I even bothered voting in that stupid poll.

  6. I agree with this completely.

  7. HOORAY! I didn't realize there were so many more fans of X ! It's wonderful to see the support.

I was glad to be a part of the vote for him! I had to sign up/register for Capcom-Unity though, but it was worth it. Oh well, maybe it will be fun being a member!

    ^.^

  8. See. I didn't not vote for X because I didn't want him. I didn't vote for him because I had faith in him.

Like a wise prophet once said:

    Don't believe in yourself.
Believe in me, who believes in you.

  9. I'm happy MMX made top, happy that Gambit made #2, REALLY happy that Black Panther didn't even crack the top 20 (I have nothing against him; it's just that ONE dude on GameFAQs who WON'T SHUT UP ABOUT HIM), and kinda baffled about Carnage.

  10. "See. I didn't not"

And then you have the GALL to quote kamina?
    SHAME.

Anyways, We all know that chances are X isnt going to make it, But a man can dream cant he?

  11. *sigh* Let's hope they listen and start looking for an X voice actor.

Well, one can hope, anyway. We already have Jill and Shuma, Frank and Doc Oc already pretty much confirmed... Now.. *crosses fingers* C'mooon, Capcom.

I'd like to point out, not only did X win the Capcom poll, but he won, period. He claimed the most votes on either side. Even Venom didn't get as many as X did.

    That says something right there.

If Capcom's not entirely braindead, they'll listen to this and give us some blue reploid love.

I mean, think about it; 1 out of 3 people voted for X.

    That's a buttload of people.

WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK X IS!?

Anyways, It is pleasant to hear that X, Wright and Strider are top, Those three are awesome characters P:

LAWL! A wise prophet named Kamina?

You're a negative nancy, you are... and probably completely right. DX I'd be more surprised if Capcom hasn't already chosen at least most of the DLC characters.

Still cool to see so much support for X tho~ :D

  15. Is it any surprise that X is more popular than the REAL Megaman on the net? X has always had more appeal to the exceptionally nerdy.

Seriously, why did Venom top the Marvel chart? We've seen Venom before, and he wasn't impressive. He's got all of Spiderman's moves, but he's also a larger target. Nice trade-off... not!

Based on all the crap characters that voted so high in this poll, it's evident that the fans have as much taste in characters as the douche bags who chose the initial characters for this game.

It is, in every sense, the successor to Capcom Fighting Evolution.

Heh, Tchallafan or whoever it was, right?

I'm beginning to think that his blatant 'equality/racism' trolling arguments are nothing more than a continued attempt to turn the entire board against Black Panther while posing as a fan. You know it's bad when a good number of other Black Panther topics that I see have to begin with the disclamer of 'NOT A TCHALLAFAN TOPIC'.

    Kamina isn't a prophet, he's a fucking cartoon character. -_-

On the topic of this DLC voting, I personally think these votes aren't gonna do anything.

    And judging by this...
    http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2011/mar/06/mvc3s-producer-talks-characters-possible-sequel/

It seems we are likely only gonna get what we asked for, in a whole separate new game. -__-

  18. @MegamanMegafan
How would you have worded it?

    ReplyDelete
  19. @Professor Megaman: Oh yeah, Venom. He was a total clone of Spiderman, m i rire? I mean, they shared all of.......1 move. No, seriously. The only move they had in common was Web Throw. >_>

@Antialias: Yes, TchallaFan and his army of alternate accounts. I mean, I was okay with other people regurgitating the same stuff over and over again, but he just WOULDN'T QUIT. >:|

  20. @ Amir

You're probably right. Personally, I hope this poll convinces Capcom to just go ahead and make X9. Even though the X series has been on hiatus for 5 or so years he's still quite popular.

    ReplyDelete
  21. @Amir: God damn it Capcom's gonna run MvC into the ground now >_> Honestly I'd prefer they get the DLC out first before they talk about a sequel. I'd also prefer a TvC2 first as well.

  22. Good. NOw lets hope capcom is smart enough to include X in DLC.

  23. - I think we don't need a Mega Man on MvC3, simply because it wouldn't match the other fighters' abilities very well. We need a new Mega Man game: why don't YOU vote for, instead of a stupid DLC thing? :(

    ReplyDelete
  24. @ Anonymous who doesn't think we need Mega Man in MvC3

X9 is one of the top five most voted requests on capcom-unity. That and we're actually getting MML3. What more do you want?

    ReplyDelete
  25. @"why don't YOU vote for, instead of a stupid DLC thing?"

There was no option to vote for "A New Megaman Game" in the DLC voting. And voting in the DLC poll doesn't prevent me from asking for or voting for a Megaman game in future, past, or current polls.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Well, if it's any consolation, we might see X in Street Fighter x Tekken as a hidden character or something.

Between this upcoming title and MvC3, Capcom's really taken a liking to shallow button mashers lately. Does the Street Fighter IV series have to be the only Capcom fighter that mixes skill with balance?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Why didn't Classic Megaman get any love? I thought everyone was pissed at Capcom for excluding him from MvC3 and then making lame excuses such as "Mega Man doesn't have many moves".

    You disappoint me, internet. :(

    ReplyDelete
  28. @Matt: Hmm... probably because while people were disappointed Mega didn't make it in, at least he was in the first two MvCs. X hasn't been in any crossover games despite that he's the title character of another great classic series since Zero has turned into the creator's pet. D:

  29. @ Glitchy:

"You're a negative nancy, you are... and probably completely right."

When you've followed the MvC3 hype train about as long as I did, you'd probably understand why I'd say those two things up there.

    - X fans during the earlier days of the hype train were convinced that X would make it into MvC3 on pure fan demand alone. After all, MvC3 was being developed with the fans in mind, right?

    - People thought Strider and especially Classic MM were shoe-ins for months. Even after the lupinko leak, people still held hope for Classic MM.

    - Over Twitter during late October, Niitsuma let out a huge string of disconfirmations. He mentions that he would have loved to include more Darkstalkers, but time constraints did not permit him to do so. His next choice would have been Jon Tailbain. People took this message as a disconfirmation of any further Darkstalkers for the initial roster. Hsien-Ko gets confirmed months later, in which it was brought up that Niitsuma never told anyone how many Darkstalkers DID make it into MvC3 in that tweet.

    - Niitsuma released an interview during late November mentioning that they were choosing characters based on popularity and playing style. It was worded in a way that implied that we would not be getting any more Street Fighter shotos. Months later, Akuma is confirmed.

    - We were told during the early/middle phase that we would have a story mode. I'm sure you know what happened.

Yeah, I totes get ya. I hadn't been keeping up that thoroughly on MvC3, but it sounds like a long string of excuses and unfulfilled promises. That's kinda too bad, since the series had been for so long without a sequel. =(

  31. Meh i was hoping for Pheonix Wright cause it would have been hilarious to see a random OBJECTION!!!! in the middle of a fight, and even then not to diss all of the X fans but i would have wanted Bass.exe, and Megaman.exe over X anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  32. megaman.exe shouldnt even consider himself megaman
