Mega Man X3 Composer To Perform At Video Games Live

Japanese composer Kinuyo Yamashita, perhaps best known by fans for her Mega Man X3 score, will be among many composer at Video Games Live in Brooklyn, New York this Saturday at the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts.

Unfortunately, there's no mention if she'll be performing pieces from X3; however, the show's official press release notes there will be new Mega Man music present, so it does seem likely.

Even though there's a chance we won't get to hear some of those snazzy X3 tunes live, this is a grand opportunity to meet Yamashita in person. More often than not, VGL attendees can easily score a few autographs from performers... that is, if you hang around long enough after the show. Might want to bring a copy of X3 just in case!

Full details on location, pricing and more available at the official Video Games Live webpage.

Thanks for the tip, Andrew!

  2. It's also worth noting that she was the composer for the original Castlevania (NES). Man, what an infectious soundtrack.

  4. Up until now, I never knew that a woman composed Mega Man X3's soundtrack. I'm not saying that I have a problem with it, or that's it's too anything, I'm saying that I only found that out just now.

She definitely composed some of the best songs in the series; Zero's theme, Blizzard Buffalo's, Toxic Seahorse's, and Vile MKII's themes really stand out.

  5. @Krazy Monkey: SHE made Zero's Theme? Wow, I finally see the face of the maker of my most favorite MMX piece!!!!

  7. AHHHHHHH! OH... MY... GOSH! O.O

So this is the composer for Mega Man X3!!!??? Wow, it's so nice to finally know the face behind the music of this game in the series!

As another female music composer myself, with some of my works inspired by the Mega Man X series as well, it would be awesome to see her live at that Video Games Live in Brooklyn!

Unfortunately, the date is bad timing for me. :(

Still nice to know regardless! Thank you so much for posting this! :D

  9. AWWW you got my hopes up because you said Brooklyn, but it's actually Brooksville, which is like 2 hours away, maybe even 3 with trains/buses.

  11. Weeaboo? Really? How does finding a woman attractive make me a weeaboo? Because she's asian?

    You sir are racist.

  12. I always though X3 had the best soundtrack out of the entire X series.

  13. Given this site's history with weeaboos popping in and saying stupid shit, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't say the same thing if it was an equally hot white, latina or black chick.

  14. Given the site's history of morons coming in and looking for an excuse to use the term weaboo, even completely incorrectly, I wouldn't be surprised if he was to be accused of being a perv instead if it was an equally hot white, latina, or black chick.

  15. So cool to see the face behind Mega Man X3's music! X3's credits roll theme is one of my favorite songs in the entire franchise, not to mention Toxic Seahorse, Gravity Beetle, Doppler Stages 1-2, the opening stage... X3 had some great music. Too bad this particular Video Games Live isn't in Los Angeles, or else I'd go.

    @Last Anon:

Shut the fuck up and stop trolling. Beautiful women are beautiful women. Racist.

  17. Hey everyone. Instead of spamming the comments section with unrelated crap, why don't we ignore the trolls and the racists and go on with our lives?

  18. She can compose my music. ;)

  19. How does thinking a woman is beautiful make you a weeaboo. I can understand when someone goes "AHAHA! Japan is better than the US! Kawaii kawaii!!" being kinda weeabooish but "She's...beautiful"? You crazy.

Before someone calls me a weeb. My preference are white girls but that doesn't blind me from seeing beauty in other races.

  20. Haven't you guys ever heard of the old saying "Don't feed the troll"? Ignore him.

As for this newsbit, this is really great news. Mega Man X3 doesn't get much love compared to other Mega Man X games. I hope she'll play Zero's Theme or Gravity Beetle.
