'Megatainment' Released

It's time once again to rock out to The Megas. The Mega Man based cover band recently released their latest album, Megatainment, yesterday as part of a collaboration with Entertainment System. The soundtrack, featuring four all new Mega Man 1 inspired songs, is up for grabs on their online store for $5. Hard copies of the album, however, cost an extra $3 in shipping.

Wanna listen before you buy? Head on over to the band's official Facebook profile for a few sample tracks.

  1. This is some really nice music that they've put together, and the tracks that you can sample on their page are awesome. I particularly like "I Want to be the One," although I think all of the others are great. I may actually buy this ($5.00 plus shipping is a good price).

  2. @Brahman- The only one off their new album on the page is Elecman's theme. The rest are off their older album.

  3. @Cloudy: Interesting, I didn't know that, but I've never listened to any of their music before (sad, isn't it?). But that makes sense as all of the music on the page is MM2-centered, aside from Elec Man's theme, but it gives me an idea of how good it is. I'll be looking forward to this album then!

  5. As cool as this is, and as much as I love megaman music, I always feel like cover bands are wasting their creative time and energy. Make something unique!

  6. @Anonymous: The Megas ARE unique. The fact that they have lyrics are unique enough, but they create personalities and backstories for the robots. Plus they insert enough of their own original stuff into the songs (as well as rearranging them so it's not a straight cover with nothing changed) to make it their own; this is especially true in The Message From Dr. Light, which is based on the Level Select theme that lasts all of about 4 seconds normally.

One could argue that it takes MORE skill to be so creative with an already existing song than it does to make a new song.

I couldn't agree more. How can they be anymore unique than they already are?
