Rockman EXE The Medal Operation

This little known beauty was quite prominent in Japanese arcades in late 2005. Rockman EXE: the Medal Operation marked the EXE series' first foray into the arcade scene. So, uh...what is it?

Players deposit a specific amount of "medals" (arcade tokens) into the machine to initiate the game. Once started, you play a series of EXE 5 themed mini games in order to win a boatload of tokens to trade for prizes. Very little details exist about each individual mini game, all I know is that there's five in all with varying gameplay styles. If you check out the official website, you can sort of conjure up the objectives of each.

Don't you just love these obscure Japanese arcade games?

Don't bother as far as I could tell japan has moved on. I was there last summer and I never saw any of the arcade machines mentioned here. The only merchandise (besides the games) I found was some packs of exe 4 mod cards going for a discount of 100 yen.

Me too. Hopefully one day I'll have a Rockman.EXE memorabilia room. XD

Well specific arcade games are sometimes hard to find. If it's anything like the US, the smatterings of arcade games in each place varies quite a bit.

Well it's possible that some of the stuff is still somewhere, or in junkyards and stuff, I suppose. All the good stuff was probably out in use between 2005 and 2007.

Ah, I played with one of those last year. You can connect your GBA with a Rockman EXE 5 cartridge (USA Battle Network doesn't work), so you can netbattle with friends and CPU. I didn't take photos or anything, though.
