To Open Or Not To Open...

Fellow readers, I have a bit of a predicament on my hands:

Yesterday afternoon, my MegaMan 9 Press Kit arrived all bundled up like a newborn child. Now, I'm pondering if I should unwrap it from its plastic and behold the sites inside the box, or leave it as is, unopened.

It looks quite good on my "mantle" as is, but I'm still tempted to pry it open and screw around with the asset CD and cartridge.

Thoughts? Opinions?

Holy crap, is that a "$9.99" price tag on the shrink wrap? Absolutely brilliant!

If you must open it, open it very, very carefully.

People would love you forever if you ripped the contents of the CD, lol.

Buy another one and open the second one and keep this one for collection?

I don't know. It is up to you and you decide for yourself because you got it and what are you going to do with it ? It's your deicision.

Lucien, do you realise how much another one would cost?

Someone already put all the contents of the CD up somewhere. I forgot where, though.

you only live once. you don't want to look back at this at age 50 and wonder what happened if you had ever opened this box instead of leaving it untouched

Ignore the above posters -- DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, OPEN IT! That you could even CONSIDER doing so makes my inner collector writhe in horror.

@people wanting the CD's content:

It has been available online for a loooong while already.

Pardon me for having about as much sympathy for your predicament as Capcom HQ has steak.

Hmmmm. What to do indeed. On the one hand, you could open it up and get a good look at it, take pics and post them on your blog to share. On the other hand, you could keep it sealed, set it on your mantle and look up at it fondly whenever you want.

Honestly, I don't know what to tell ya except that it's your call.

Definitely DEFINITELY leave it in the shrink wrap. Someonse else will surely post the CD contents online.

If you're not a big time collector, I say go for it. ;)
A word of advice: cut the seal on the top to make an opening for the box flap. This way, you will not have to remove the rest of the wrapping or that awesome price tag.

Did you get one of the codes before they opened up the sales? I did, but mine still has not arrived yet.

Yup, got the promo code. Mine took a while to show up, it was estimated to arrive last Wednesday. I wouldn't worry :)

I'm keeping mine sealed because once you open it, you can't 'un-open' it. If I ever decide to open it, I can still do that.

If you didn't get a code, ordered it after it went on sale on Capcom's online store, got backordered, and haven't received notice yet, are you SOL?

I just got mines today, and I'm planning on leaving it sealed. After all, it's merely a collector's item, so looking inside, personally, it's not worth it.

The Asset CD stuff that was already posted online was...well...it's definitely not worth unsealing for.

By the way, I noticed that there were two big holes in my seal. I noticed these a bit after I opened it from the mail, but I'm pretty sure I did nothing for these openings. Shame...

Apparently...according to the price tag...a whopping $9.99.
